Inspiration Bomb – Jess Neave

Now, sorry if this burst your bubble, but I’ve never been a big fan of chia seeds, or fundamentalism of any kind.

This might be part of the reason I’ve only ever really let one yoga teacher into my heart.

Her name is Jesse Neave.

That’s her there, with her brood of boys, including musician boyfriend Tommy Spender. Today’s Inspiration Bomb was recorded on the day of their surprise engagement!

By her own admission, Jesse (who created Yoga with Jessie) has never been your cliche yoga teacher (although she does a brilliant impersonation, as you’ll hear in today’s Inspiration Bomb…)

Sure, she’s clocked up her 10,000 hours in India, she can chant like the best of them, however I suspect there’s not a fundamental bone in her body.

Lots of people SAY they’re about “do what you can”, but when Jesse says it, she means it.

Recently, for example, at my first ever yoga retreat to Bali, she really helped me and my buddy find a really great balance between green drinks.

Both equally worthy? You be the judge.

In today’s Bomb, Jesse gives us a musically drenched, straight-up encouraging and best of all BIG HEARTED message to anyone who’s trying to make a living doing the things they love.

The artwork accompanying this interview rocks. Again, it’s Beci Orpin on the desk. The thing she’s making – do you recognise that from childhood? I do.

Wanna win a copy of Beci’s book Home? I have ONE LAST COPY TO GIVE AWAY. Just tell me in the comments underneath the bomb, what is the one thing Jesse said that you think will stick with you through the coming week?

Just like there is never going to be perfect time or place to practice yoga, there is never going to be a perfect time to practice your art and so it needs to be integrated into your life somehow. Hah. Just read below me. Sorry. Got the same message as well as connectedness. being connected to what you do. Thank you for putting this together.

“being real, being human… the more that you accept that in your own
practice, the more you have to teach… you can come from an honest
& authentic place in your teaching.”

I love this… especially as of
late with so many personal challenges in my life… it helps mirror back
that these sorts of contrasts deepen the journey vs. diminish it.

thank you for the beautiful posts & inspiration! now i must go & relax my gallbladder.

The idea of looking after yourself first and foremost is a really important one. It’s not about being selfish, but honouring your own truth and I think yoga is the best “tool” for helping us realise that. Loved this Inspiration Bomb – thanks Jesse and BHB!! x

  • I love this!!! I am a yoga teacher and an artist and I find it so hard to just stop and look after myself. I know that I am a more useful artist and teacher when I’m rested, informed, balanced and not a crazed stressed loony, but it’s still very hard to put your own needs first. I see it as ‘investing in my business’ – so that’s why I’m spending my Saturday afternoon watching Inspiration Bombs and working through the BHB Conference! Happy investing guys! <3 🙂

she didn’t say it like this exactly but I heard something about spiritual commitment and being true to yourself being more important than outward appearance.

” Stick at it, keep going, but look after yourself as well. Make sure you go to your yoga class & you go to your massage or whatever your doing & make sure that somebody is looking after you. ”
