Anyone involved in Australia’s small but brilliant contemporary dance scene will be familiar with the work of Stephanie Lake. A dancer, a choreographer, and one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet,
Stephanie is also a long-time friend of Clare’s who actually appeared in her first ever film-clip, Ms Unavailability. She is also the mother of two, and the grace and cleverness with which she has negotiated the last decade of her career has been an ongoing source of inspiration for Clare.
Stephanie Lake is an award winning choreographer and dancer based in Melbourne, Australia.
Born and raised in Canada and then Tasmania, Stephanie has danced for some of Australia’s best companies including Gideon Obarzanek’s Chunky Move (Connected, Two Faced Bastard, Tense Dave, Wanted: Ballet for a Contemporary Democracy, Clear Pale Skin), Lucy Guerin Inc (Conversation Piece, Human Interest Story, Aether, Melt, Ends of Things, Plasticine Park) and BalletLab (Endling, Upholster, Amplfication) as well as choreographers Antony Hamilton and Byron Perry (I Like This) since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2000. She has performed extensively, touring to festivals worldwide for over thirteen years.
