Everyone is born creative and with the sense that anything is possible, but some of us forget along the way.
Rose Wintergreen is an award-winning, enigmatic electro/folk solo artist from Melbourne, Australia. Ethereal, cinematic, yet intimate, her music has been likened to Little Dragon, Massive Attack and Sarah Blasko.
In 2013 Wintergreen was named Artist of the Year at the Australian Independent Music Awards (Electronic category) and finalist for the prestigious Vanda and Young Songwriting Award (previously won by Washington and Kimbra).
Her highly anticipated new mini-album, Aurora, has already been added to rotation on Triple J Unearthed, included in PBS FM’s top 10 featured records, and is receiving widespread radio play on local ABC and community radio stations across Australia.
The first single from Aurora, “Feet In The Sand”, debuted at number 5 on the Triple J Unearthed electronic chart, featured on Hype Machine, received radio play on Triple J, Radio National and numerous community radio stations, and has had 25,000 plays on Soundcloud.
“Aurora” (mini-album) – is released worldwide on 28 August 2014.
But, there’s more to it than that!
I knew when I was eight years old that I wanted to be an artist and to help people. Yet, I spent five years studying other things (psychology and criminology) and almost ten years working other jobs before rediscovering my sense of possibility and diving into the deep end to do the things that excite me most.
I was 24 by the time I finally plucked up the courage to start performing my music in front of people (coming from being so shy that I would never even sing in the shower for fear of someone hearing me). I had no time to waste. I didn’t just work hard on the music, I also made it my mission to understand how to get my music out into the world and noticed.
Now I’m living my dream – I’m an award-winning recording and touring artist, a crowdfunding ambassador (last year I successfully crowdfunded more than $8,000 for my new record using Pozible) – and I’m working with other artists to make sure their work gets noticed so they can live their dream too.
I provide artist action planning, publicity and workshops to other artists and arts organisations, operating as Launch Bubble: http://www.launchbubble.com
