Brisbane based drummer, percussionist and educator…. passionate about learning new skills, collaborating with musicians and other art forms, and making a difference through unique projects and creating meaningful relationships.

Recipient of the SJ Bromley Award & Magnetic Island Young Performers Award, Lachlan Hawkins is a drummer, percussionist and teacher currently completing his studies at the Queensland Conservatorium. A member of the Conservatorium’s flagship jazz orchestra, the Con Artists, Lachlan has also extensively performed around Australia and beyond in a variety of settings, from jazz trios and corporate bands to accompanying vocal ensembles and conducting body percussion workshops at schools.

His most rewarding experiences include touring internationally with the Queensland Youth Symphony as well as sharing the stage with musicians James Morrison, The Idea of North, Harrison Craig, Luke Kennedy, John Hoffman and Melissa Western.

Whilst at the Conservatorium, Lachlan has met an amazing group of mentors, peers and friends, which has led to his involvement in many exciting projects. Lachlan has formed his own trio with Brisbane vocalist Kelsey Giarola, founded percussion ensemble “SoundStruck Percussion” and has plans to launch his own large ensemble in 2014.
